Latin colour names are often used in the naming of trees, flowers and animal species so can be extremely useful if you're a keen gardener or zoologist. They are also extremely useful in a quizzing context where you might need to figure out the meaning of a specific word that comes from a latin root, for example the country Argentina derives its name from the latin "silver" (Argenteus) and you might also notice that the French for money (argent) also has the latin for silver as its root.

Below is a list of common colour names in latin. They come in feminine, masculine and neuter form, but if you're not interested in constructing sentences it's not too important to understand exactly what that means, just be aware that the words in each form mean the same thing.
